Supriya elected Curti sarpanch
PONDA: Supriya Gaude was on Thursday elected unopposed as Sarpanch of Curti Khandepar panchayat, while Narendra Parab was elected as deputy sarpanch by 6-4 votes.
On November 28, Deepa Shanker Naik and Sajjad Mulla were ousted as sarpanch and deputy following a no-confidence motion moved by six panchas, Sandeep Khandepar, Anand Jalmi, Priya Chari, Supriya Gaude, Chandrika Kuttikar and Deepa Naik.
Though Anand Jalmi changed his mind and voted against the motion, panch Narendra Parab from the ruling group voted in favour of the no-confidence motion. Thus it was passed ousting both Deepa Naik and Sajjad Mulla.
On Thursday, Supriya Gaude was the only candidate to file her nomination to the post of sarpanch, while two candidates - Narendra Parab and Naveed Tahsildar contested the deputy's post. Parab won by 6 votes to 4.
The 11-member panchayat has only 10 members at present, following the disqualification of one panch member. All 10 members were present at the meeting.
