Facilities are being planned in Surla, in a bid to boost tourism in the remote and scenic village of Sattari.
Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) Chairperson Deviya Rane recently visited the area along with forest officials and local representatives to discuss ways to promote tourism in the area.
Surla has been attracting people from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka, especially on Saturdays and Sundays, on account of its cool climate and scenic beauty. Plans are now afoot to develop tourist cottages in the scenic “Sada” area, while other facilities are also being planned in the village.
During her visit to Surla, Rane instructed officials to prepare a development plan for the area which can attract tourists and visitors along the lines of Mahabaleshwar in Maharashtra.
When contacted, Rane said Surla is a remote part of Sattari taluka, which borders on the three states of Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka. “The cool climate and natural beauty of the surroundings are some of the attractions which can boost tourism and promote development in the village,” said Rane.
