Swami Brahmeshanand, Sadguru and religious head of Tapobhumi Padmanabha Peeth at Kundai in Ponda has stated that social responsibility or accountability towards society is nothing but an acceptance by an individual of his or her responsibility to carry and accept social duties with a moral attitude.
“An acceptance of those social values and responsibility is useful for society in every possible manner,” said Swami Brahmeshanand, while addressing delegates and religious faculty members of different cults and religious groups at the inaugural ceremony of a world conference of religions at Toronto-Canada.
Representing the Hinduism faculty at the World Conference of Religions, Swami Brahmeshanand further said wisdom, intelligence, ability to think and emotions are a gift of the divine given exclusively to human beings and it is expected that these abilities be used in the right way, at the right time and at the right place. “If a person has good intent, he or she will do something good and noble for the welfare of other people around him or her. This is called social responsibility,” Swami Brahmeshanand said.
He further said there is nothing more important than our life in this whole world.
“But while following social norms, to sacrifice our own benefits for the benefit of others and giving away the benefits of ours to other individuals from the society and community, is what develops the attitude of gratitude which further develops as a culture and this same culture paves the way for abstinence from all materialistic pleasure and benefits of life.”
“One who has this kind of social empathy with a certain level, he or she as a person is considered greater among human beings, depending upon his level of social empathy and his or her understanding of social welfare. This is the essence of the life stories and character of all great human beings and great people around the world,” said Brahmeshanand.
He also mentioned the need to strengthen the Indian economy and also a desire of an increased participation of youth in the noble work of nation building, leading to the progress of India as a nation.
