CANACONA
Parampujya Shrimad Vidhyadheesh Teerth Swamiji returned to the Partagali Jeevottam Math on Saturday after completing the Chaturmas Vrat, a four-month period of spiritual discipline and religious observances, in Varanasi.
The Swamiji was given a grand welcome by members of the Saraswat Samaj from Canacona, Karnataka and other devotees. The event was marked by garlands, chants of “Jai-Jai Kur-Maharaj”, and the rhythmic beats of traditional instruments like the dhol, tanse and kansali.
Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, one of the oldest and first Gaud Saraswat Mathas of the Dvaita order founded in the 13th century, will celebrate its 550th anniversary, Sharda Panchashatamanotsava, from November 27 to December 7 this year.
As part of the celebrations, several development and renovation works have been undertaken, including the improvement of approach roads and the installation of a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Rama.
The statue is expected to be unveiled during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Math on November 28 for the Sharda Panchashatamanotsava celebrations.
