Speaking to media persons, BJP Leader Dattaprasad Naik said, “I don’t think it is an issue at all in Goa. All communities live in harmony here. It is probably his personal stand. It is not the party’s stand.”
Senior BJP Leader Subramanian Swamy had earlier stated that Goa’s beef eating tradition needs to be changed. Following his statement, Goa Congress had demanded that the BJP-led coalition Government condemn Swamy’s statement.
Meanwhile, State Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday accused the Congress of politicising and communalising the issue of ban on liquor along the highways.
“It is a wrong thing that the Congress has tried to politicise the issue of liquor ban along the highways. We condemn this. This shows their frustration over their failure to form the government in the State,” said Naik.
“They are questioning on why the State Government has not filed the review petition. I want to ask him how many of their Congress-ruled states have filed review petitions in SC. They should not mislead Goans using this issue. Who has stopped the Congress from filing review petition in the SC in the interest of the State?” he said.
