South Western Railways General Manager Mukul Saran Mathur conducted a detailed Window Trail Inspection of the Hubballi“Kulem section on Wednesday, with a special focus on monsoon preparedness and safety precautions.

The inspection covered key areas between Hubballi and Alnavar, where various operational and safety parameters were thoroughly reviewed. Special emphasis was laid on the readiness for the upcoming monsoon, including the assessment of bridge and track maintenance works currently in progress.

At Caranzol Station in the Braganza Ghat, the General Manager, accompanied by a team from RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation), conducted a comprehensive inspection. The team assessed the condition of signal points and held detailed discussions on the provision of check rails at key locations to enhance safety standards.

Options for realigning track curves to facilitate smoother and more efficient train movement were also explored.

Additionally, the site of the recent derailment at Caranzol was meticulously examined. Various technical and track parameters were reviewed to determine the underlying causes of the incident, and extensive deliberations were held on preventive strategies to mitigate the risk of similar occurrences in the future.

At Dudhsagar Station, signal installations were examined to verify their efficiency and safety compliance. Mathur offered several suggestions to enhance operational reliability and maintain the highest safety standards. Recently renewed track and sleepers, laid using the Track Relaying Train (TRT) Machine, were also inspected.

He  was accompanied by Director of Track from RDSO B P Singh, Divisional Railway Manager Bela Meena and principal heads of departments and senior branch officers and officials from Hubballi Division.
