The 4th All Goa inter-school Tiatr competition got off to a start at the Ravindra bhavan, Margao on Monday, with Director of Education Shailesh Zingade saying the National Education Policy (NEP) lays stress on encouraging students in activities such as sports, art and culture etc to give a boost to their talent.

The competition was inaugurated on Monday evening by academician Dr Ernest Rodrigues, in the presence of the Education Director, Tiatr Academy of Goa President Anthony Barbosa and others.

In his address, Dr Rodrigues reminded that the tiatr form of art is handed over to the present generation by the ancestors, adding that it is the duty of the youngsters to preserve the art for posterity.

Complimenting TAG president Anthony Barbosa for his host of initiatives to take tiatr forward after taking over the reigns of office, Dr Rodrigues said that TAG has got the right man at the right place, who is ready to walk the talk to take tiatr forward.

In his address, the Education Director underscored the need to motivate and encourage the students to display their talents, whether in sports, art and culture etc.

Addressing the gathering, TAG President Anthony Barbosa said that TAG is organising the inter-school tiatr competition to give a platform to the young minds to display their talent.

He appealed to the teachers to get their students watch the tiatr at the ongoing inter-school competition and emulate the performance of their budding youngster.
