PANAJI: The state government, on Monday, notified the Taleigao Outline Development Plan (ODP) 2028 which will come into force from the day it is notified.
The official procedure of drafting the ODP for the Taleigao area has been going on for the last three years.
In December 2017, the secretary of Town and Country Planning area notified the Taleigao Planning area which comes under the jurisdiction of the Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA) which was constituted on January 31, 2018.
GPPDA had submitted a draft ODP 2028 of Taleigao area to the TCP board in September 2018.
Before that, the GPPDA has prepared present Land Use Map and Register of Taleigao Planning Area.
Around 291 objections and suggestions to the plan were then scrutinised through a committee that was constituted for the purpose.
The TCP board in its 164th (adjournment) meeting held on 1 February 2019 approved the draft Taleigao ODP 2028 followed by government approval in the cabinet meeting held in the first week of February.
GPPDA member secretary R K Pandita in a notification issued has said that the ODP 2028 for Taleigao planning area is notified and will come into operation under section 37(3) of the TCP Act, 1974 from the date of the notification.
The ODP will be available for inspection of the general public at the offices of the GPPDA, Taleigao Village Panchayat and the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP).
It may be recalled that the new Taleigao ODP has provision for a facility like rainwater harvesting, indoor stadium (around 15,000 sqm area), market complex, convention centre, cemetery (around 4000 sqm area) and a joggers park at Caranzalem.
As per the new ODP, Taleigao has 15,37795 sqm of agriculture fields besides comunidade tenanted agriculture fields and 4,57,017 sqm of orchard land.
Taleigao area also consists of a significant number of members from the SC, ST and fishermen communities.
