Tanuja murder: Statements to be recorded from today
The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Navnath Naik will start recording the statements in the Tanuja Naik murder case from Thursday.

the goan I networkrPONDA rrIt may be recalled that Atish Naik (25) suspecting his wife of infidelity had allegedly smothered Tanuja Naik (23) to death in his ancestral house at Gaunem and was arrested at KTC bus stand in Ponda while returning from Belagavi on Tuesday morning. rTanuja was found dead in her husband’s ancestral house at Gaunem-Ponda on Monday night and police had suspected foul play after her husband could not be traced following the incident. rSince the murder took place within two years of marriage, the case is being investigated by Sub Divisional Magistrate Navnath Naik. rSpeaking to The Goan, Navnath Naik said he will start recording the statements from Thursday. “I was supposed to start recording the statements on Wednesday, but could not due to some office work. I will start the process from Thursday,” he said. rTanuja and Atish were staying in Raia and the couple had visited his ancestral house at Gaunem on Monday morning. Tanuja died due to compression of nose, mouth and throat.
The state-of-the-art Tuem Government Primary School was finally opened for students on Wednesday. rnThe school was inaugurated on December 25, 2016, in incomplete state. There was delay in completion of the work and parents had repeatedly demanded shifting their children in the new school.
