Tribal Welfare Ramesh Tawadkar along with delegation of State ST leaders met Union Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal in New Delhi, to demand early implementation of political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa under Article 332 of the Constitution.
Tawadkar submitted a note seeking early commencement of The Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of the State of Goa Act, 2025.
The Act, passed by Parliament and notified on August 13, 2025 after Presidential assent, will ensure political reservation for Scheduled Tribes in Goa under Article 332 of the Constitution.
As the Act requires a separate notification to come into force, the delegation urged the Central Government to notify the appointed date at the earliest so that Scheduled Tribes can benefit in the forthcoming Assembly Elections 2027.
