The members of Black Yellow Taxi Association (BYTA) on Monday met SP Traffic Dinraj Govekar and apprised him about the parking issue at Dabolim airport.
The association members were called for a meeting with SP Govekar to listen to their grievances. Traffic PI Roy Pereira was also present for the meeting.
The members apprised SP Govekar about the parking issue and other problems faced by them at the airport. The SP was also informed of various issues like parking of cabs on the roads and fights at the airport.
Speaking to the media, BYTA president Sanjay Naik said there were incidents of fights at the airport.
"We were called to meet SP Govekar by PI Traffic Roy Pereira. We informed Govekar that there had been accidents while some take tourists to the cars parked at the highways."
"There are some outsiders with licences from other states, who take the passengers at night. In case someone takes a tourist and commits a crime, then we will be looked upon as bad state. There are times when drivers literally pull the passengers from each side so that they get business."
"There are times when car drivers put loud music, dance, place bottles on cars and even fight in front of tourists. Govekar has assured to take action against these people soon," said Naik.
Speaking to the media, Govekar said he has requested the association to place their grievances with the competent authorities and not to take law and order in their hands as tourist season has commenced and these incidents bring a bad name.
"Grievances regarding parking and other illegalities were brought to my notice and I have directed the officials to initiate action against such illegalities," he said.
