Deputy Director of Education Sindhu Prabhudessai Nayak has encouraged teachers to teach lessons to students through stories.
“Students like to read and listen to stories. If stories are narrated to student they will learn lessons faster,” said Nayak.
She was address the annual day function of Fomento Educational and Charitable Society’s The Porvorim English Primary School at Porvorim. Those present at the function included Director of Prudent Media Network Joe Louis, Headmistress of Dona Leonor Memorial High school Bhavana Naik, Administrator of the school Sheela Jaywant and Neelima Prabhu.
Naik further stated that in the age of 3 Gs, people using mobiles are used to words 3G,4G and 5G.
“There are also three more Ji’s which are important and they are Mataji, Pitaji and Guruji. These three Ji’s play an important role in the lives of human beings. Hence, students should always respect and obey the instructions of their Mataji, Pitaji and Guruji,” said Nayak.
Students later presented various a cultural programme and entertained the gathering. Richa Fernandes compered the programme while Sheela Jaywant later proposed the vote of thanks.
Later speaking to The Goan, a teacher, Dorothy Pereira, stated that the Porvorim Primary English School was started in 1996.
“Prior to that, KG classes were conducted. The first standard was introduced in June 1996 and Stds 2,3 and 4 were added every year. Initially, there were 35 students in each class and now, it has been increased to 40,” said Pereira.
“Four academic subjects, including English and Konkani, are imparted in each standard. Besides, we have started teaching computers to students too. We are in the process of imparting education as per the New Education Policy and teachers are getting training from the education department.”
“We also give stress on co-curricular activities so that students should remain active and fit,” Pereira added.
