Teachers of aided schools yet to get VIth Pay arrears

Even as the state government pledges to implement the recommendations of the VIIth Pay Commission, teachers of certain aided schools in North Goa are still awaiting their VIth Pay Commission arrears much to their chagrin.

The teachers have been running from pillar to post in order to claim their dues with the accounts department offering different excuses on why the dues are not cleared.
“The VIth Pay Commission Part B arrears of the staff under the National Pension Scheme have not been paid,” a teacher on condition of anonymity told The Goan.
Curiously, the senior teachers who do not come under the New (National) Pension Scheme/System (NPS) have received their arrears and teachers in aided schools in South Goa have received the arrears, it is the younger teachers in aided schools in North Goa who have been denied the arrears.
“The bills have been sent to the accounts department, however, they offer excuses that the clerk to scrutinize them is on child care leave, or that they are pending with the education department,” the teacher said adding that the payments are rightfully theirs.
The finance department has refused to comment on the matter with an official saying that the delay could be on account of a miscommunication between the schools and the department of accounts.
Teachers have however denied that there is any miscommunication saying that all that remains is the processing of the file.
