Team leaving state to establish source of pistol in Walke case

MARGAO
A crime branch team will soon head out of station to establish the source of the pistol used by the assailants to murder city jeweller Swapnil Walke earlier this month.

The investigating agency, however, is yet to lay its hands on the bullet that was fired from the pistol that proved fatal to the young jeweller.

Crime Branch sources informed that a team will proceed out of Goa shortly to establish the source of the pistol. Though the investigating agency had initially stated that the pistol was procured from Bihar, sources in the Crime Branch preferred not to name the state where the team is heading, saying the team will be on the job to establish the source of the weapon.

During interrogations, the accused had reportedly told the officials that they had procured the pistol from Bihar. In fact, it had come to light during interrogations that the accused had tested the pistol under the Rawanfond bridge, moments after they disembarked at the Margao railway station.

Meanwhile, the investigation agency has still not managed to lay its hand on the bullet that had pierced Swapnil’s body leading to his death. Though post-mortem examination report indicated that the bullet fired from the pistol had come out of the body from the back, the bullet has not been traced as yet.

The police had attached the pistol used in the commission of the murder, besides three live cartridges and an empty cartridge from Krishni Jewellers after the crime.
