Telangana narcotic investigation leads to arrest of Goan

PANAJI

A Goa-Hyderabad drug supply network is under investigation following the arrest of a Goan by Telangana’s Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) force, which is examining suspected drug sales and bank transactions amounting to a whopping Rs 48.4 lakh.

As per information shared by Telangana police, Custodio Fernandes alias Kristy was arrested in Goa by the EAGLE force in coordination with the Hyderabad Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Hyderabad City Police. More than 25 people from Telangana whose names or contact details reportedly surfaced during the investigation are being examined for possible links to the suspected network. The case began on May 9, 2026, when Panjagutta police arrested R Keshav Raj Singh for allegedly attempting to sell drugs procured from Goa to Ayush Gupta, Rohan Williams and Lakkireddy Nikhil Anurag. Police seized 13 gms of MDMA and seven gms of charas from his car’s dashboard and registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.“During questioning, Keshav Raj Singh allegedly disclosed that he sourced drugs from two persons identified as Vedank of Marredpally and Fernandes from Goa. He reportedly travelled to Goa in the second week of April and purchased MDMA and charas worth around Rs 40,000 from Fernandes, intending to sell the consignment for Rs 80,000 approx,” the police said. Financial analysis reportedly revealed credits of around Rs 48.4 lakh in bank accounts examined during the probe. Officials said they are tracing the sources and beneficiaries of these transactions to determine whether the money was connected to the alleged drug trade.

“The associates of the Goa-based supplier allegedly travelled to Hyderabad, delivered drugs to customers, collected cash and deposited the money through ATMs into accounts linked to Fernandes. We are also examining the transaction trail to identify the alleged suppliers, purchasers and financial intermediaries,” the EAGLE official added.

Examination of Fernandes’s mobile phone reportedly yielded the names and contact details of more than 25 persons from Telangana. Their identities, financial dealings and possible links to the suspected drug-purchasing network are being verified. Officials have cautioned that the presence of a name or telephone number in a mobile phone does not, by itself, establish drug consumption or criminal involvement. The investigation is also examining information about a Nigerian national identified as Nigi, who is suspected to be operating from Goa and coordinating drug deliveries through Indian associates.

“The investigation is continuing to identify other suspected suppliers and buyers, trace the flow of money and dismantle the alleged interstate drug distribution network,” the official said.
