MARGAO
Residents of Telaulim have demanded action against what they termed as anti-social activities at the Tolleband ground in Telaulim, Navelim.
After a meeting with the residents, activist Pratima Coutinho submitted a memorandum to Margao Sub-Divisional Officer DySP Sidhant Shirodkar highlighting the alarming situation at the Tolleband ground.
"Every night this area transforms into a hotspot for illegal activities with drunken youth, peddlers operating freely, and absolute lawlessness prevailing in this area," the memorandum stated.
Pratima said the absence of police enforcement has made it a haven for criminal elements, putting the safety of local girls, women, senior citizens, and minors of the said locality at risk. "Despite the multiple concerns raised by the community, no concrete action has been taken. We request immediate police patrolling and strict enforcement of the law," the memorandum stated.
Requesting the police to take swift action before the situation worsens further and untoward incidents take place, the residents said they expected a prompt response and immediate steps to restore order in their community.
