The ambitious plan to build a three-lane road overbridge at Rawanfond, in addition to the existing old bridge, has taken concrete shape, with the government floating a tender to execute the project.
The government has also initiated a beautification project along the ring road from Rawandond to the fire station as part of the plan to beautify and illuminate the area.
Leader of Opposition along with Additional Collector, Sanjit Rodrigues, GSIDC General manager Jude Carvalho, Margao Municipal Councilor Damu Shirodkar, besides other government officials inspected the area on Wednesday to take stock of the ground reality and remove the bottlenecks.
After the inspection, Margao MLA told the media that the government has tendered work on the three-lane ROB at Rawanfond, adding that the work order for the execution of the project will be issued to the contractor by next week.
He said the government has also issued a work order to the contractor to execute the beautification project, along the ring road, from the Power house junction to the fire station.
“We have held an inspection of the area and it has been decided to demarcate the acquired land and remove the bottlenecks before initiating the work. The Additional Collector also attended the site inspection to initiate necessary action from his end”, he said.
Kamat said the entire area will be beautified and illuminated by the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
