The incident occurred on Monday morning when the fishing vessel owned by Joaquim Vaz, a resident of Colva, had ventured out for fishing. Suddenly, the engine developed a snag, leaving the trawler stranded in the sea.
Responding to call for help, another vessel which was fishing in the sea tried to pull the ill-fated vessel towards the shore. However, the rope used to pull the boat snapped and the vessel ran aground a few meters from Betalbatim’s Sunset beach. A large number of persons tried to pull the boat, but in vain.
But in the end, all the seven crew members, returned safely to shore.
