Goa governor Mridula Sinha, who has completed her five-year term, survived the latest round of new gubernatorial appointments and several transfers of governors already serving in some States.
Sinha, who was appointed Governor in Goa on August 25, 2014, within months of Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking office following the 2014 parliamentary election win, had finished her term a week ago on August 24 last and was expected to be replaced.
However, while the President Ramnath Kovind appointed five new governors including the controversial former Union minister Arif Mohammed Khan as governor of Kerala, Sinha has gone untouched, triggering speculation that an extension of term may be granted to her.
