Tharoor in Bhagat Singh controversy

Shashi Tharoor has kicked up a controversy comparing JNU students' union president Kanhaiya Kumar with freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, drawing strong criticism from BJP while Congress distanced itself from his remarks.



Tharoor, while listing the names of victims of sedition law under British rule had said Bhagat Singh was the Kanhaiya Kumar of his time.
“The biggest victims of sedition law under the British rule were Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Annie Besant,” he said.

HC order puts rent-a-cab on wheels of hope

The Bombay High Court at Goa has directed the State government to decide within six weeks whether to settle the issue of granting permissions to the rent-a-cab operators and declare in writing, if they decide in the negative, the reasons for doing so.
