MARGAO
The Goa police were left red-faced when thieves broke into nearly half a dozen business establishments right in the heart of the commercial capital, just metres away from the Margao police station.
Fortunately, the owners escaped without any major loss since the miscreants came with the sole mission to lay their hands on cash.
What’s, however, significant to note is that the thieves targeted shops and establishments which are all located right on the main road, including the George garment shops located right opposite a nationalized bank.
The thieves effected entry into the shops by bending the shutters.
The owner of George garments informed that the miscreants could not lay their hands on the cash since he does not leave cash behind after business hours. He said he will come to know whether the miscreants have lifted any valuables from the shop only at a later stage.
A bar and restaurant was also targeted by the miscreants. The owner informed that the thieves decamped with cash of Rs 4,000 from the premises, besides some liquor bottles.
A general store, besides an eatery, is amongst the other premises targeted by the miscreants.
The Margao police is investigating.
