A record 208 cyclists from across Goa and India, including teenagers and ladies, will take part in the third edition of the popular Xaxti-100 endurance cycle ride on November 18 in South Goa.
Addressing the media, President Xaxti Riders, Architect Sameer Nadkarni said that the ride will start at the Ravindra bhavan, Margao and will travel via the Quepem-Zambaulim-Rivona-Caurem-Cuncolim route to Cavelossim.
“From Cavelossim, the cyclists will need to take the coastal route to reach Cansaulim. From Cansaulim, the route will take the cyclists to the Verna village and Raia Manora via the Ambular lake before culminating at the Ravindra bhavan, Margao via the Ponda-Margao road’, he added.
He said that ace endurance cyclist, Sanjay Karandikar of Pune will be the chief guest of the event. Karandikar will flag off the event on Sunday morning and also ride with the participants.
Xaxti-100, an endurance ride of 100 Kms has to be completed within six hours and 45 minutes and is the annual signature event of Xaxti Riders, a Margao-based cycling club, which came into formal existence on Ocotber 1, 2017. Xaxti Riders, which is affiliated to Cycling Goa, an association of Goan cyclists, has 130 members, of which 70 are
active riders.
He said Xaxti-100 is a fully supported ride with safety vehicles and ambulances on call. At the half-way at the Caurem control point, the cyclists will be offered water, tea and snacks. Nadkarni hoped that such events attract more people to take up cycling for health and happiness.
