Three Bajaj auto rickshaws were set afire at Mungul area of Fatorda police station late last night when they were parked at open spaces outside the residences of the owners.
In a swift action, the Fatorda police has arrested one Bablu Fernandes in connection with the incident.
Three persons, Khadarsha Makandar, Sharfuddin Shaikh and Chandrakant Naik lodged their complaints with the Fatorda police that their auto rickshaws which were parked in an open space near Mungul were set afire by unknown miscreants. The total loss of property was pegged at Rs 1.95 lakh.
Acting on information received at around 2.30 am, Fatorda police staff comprising of PSI Paresh Ramnathkar and HC Hiralal Gawde visited spot and found out that three rickshaws were set ablaze at a distance of 100 mtrs from one another.
During the enquiry, one Bablu Fernandes aged about 55 yrs was taken into custody by taking into consideration previous history as previously he was involved in two cases of setting fire to vehicles. He was later arrested for mischief.
