MARGAO
Congress MLA Reginaldo Lourenco on Friday charged the Manohar Parrikar government for making a mockery of governance by consigning the legislative business of the upcoming budget session to only three days when there are around 71 public departments to be discussed and debated on the floor of the House.
Addressing the media, he said the truncated budget session of this year which gets underway from January 29 and culminates within three days on January 31 indicates that the Manohar Parrikar’s government in Goa has no regards whatsoever for democratic norms.
“It clearly manifests that the BJP government in the State is following the footsteps of anti-democracy tyrant and Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler who happens to be the most adored role model of its parent organisation - the RSS,” he added.
Saying that the Legislative sessions in the Seventh Legislative Assembly especially from last year have been shortened, he pointed out that during 2018, there were only 16 days of Goa Assembly legislative sessions consisting of five days of the budget session from February 19 to 23 and 11 days Monsoon session from July 19 to August 3,” he added.
Saying that the ailing state of the Chief Minister is being cited by the BJP as the reason for the curtailment of legislative session, Reginaldo said this proves that BJP has complete bankruptcy of leaders among its MLAs to succeed Manohar Parrikar as CM.
