Power Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavlikar on Wednesday said revenues in his department have risen nearly by 20 per cent through recovery measures despite no increase in the power tariff.
He said, the department is on course to net Rs 400 crore extra revenue by the end of the current fiscal in March 2024.
The minister was addressing a press conference at the Vidyut Bhavan in the presence of Chief Electrical Engineer (CEE) Stephen Fernandes and several other top engineers of the power department.
Dhavlikar who earlier presided over a planning meeting with dozens of top engineers said that with the monsoon nearing its end the department was gearing up to execute power infrastructure upgradation work across Goa worth nearly
Rs 1600-plus crore.
“Additionally, we will also restat the work worth Rs 900-odd crore which had already begun and was temporarily halted due to the monsoon,” he said
A new sub-station at Saligao worth nearly Rs 300 crore will be started by the first week of November and this weekend, the new transformer installed at Verna which will improve quality of power supply to Mormugao, Benaulim, Nuvem and Cortalim, will be commissioned and inaugurated, he said.
Meanwhile PriceWaterhouse Cooper has been engaged as a consultant to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for underground cabling across the State with priority to the high tension lines.
Responding to a query, Dhavlikar said, the Tamnar power line project is on. “The Tamnar Project is on but I cannot say when it will be completed. As and when it Goa will benefit,” Dhavlikar said.
