Badminton, fencing and volleyball events to be held at venue

Chief Minister of Goa Dr Pramod Sawant along with Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Govind Gaude, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel, Secretary (Sports) & CEO, National Games Organising Committee (NGOC) Swetika Sachan conducted a thorough review of all preparedness and plan of action ahead of the 37th National Games Goa, at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) Indoor Stadium, Taleigao, on Wednesday.
During their comprehensive inspection, the Chief Minister and Sports Minister inspected every facet of the stadium.
Expressing his confidence in the preparations, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant stated, "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every person for their relentless efforts in ensuring the readiness of the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium. It is well-positioned to play a significant role in ensuring the resounding success of the 37th National Games Goa 2023."
The SPM stadium is slated to host three high-profile events during the Games. Badminton is slated to begin on October 20 while fencing will begin from 26th October till 30th October. The volleyball event will be held between November 1 and 5.
The complex's cutting-edge infrastructure and facilities stand as a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting sports and athletic talent within the region.
DGP Jaspal Singh, Dr Geeta S Nagvenkar, Jt. CEO, NGOC and Executive Director, Sports Authority of Goa, senior officers from the Government of Goa along with Amitabh Sharma, the Chairman of National Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) and Executive Member of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) were also present.
