While passing on the Dona Paula-Miramar highway, one can see a large quantity of stagnant water every day, presumably belonging to the church authorities. There is a board displayed with the name “SOUTO MAIOR RECREATION” in this area, which is located just opposite Landscape Martins Mansion on the other side of the main road in Caranzalem.
The water accumulation is quite significant, especially during this rainy weather, as there is no outlet to the river. This area has turned into a breeding ground for mosquitoes, and the residents have been complaining every day. However, the authorities seem least bothered and are turning a blind eye. Similarly, there are many areas with similar patches of water accumulation all over Dona Paula where there is no drainage outlet.
