The Aam Aadmi Party on Tuesday came down heavily against the government on its failure to ensure stable power supply to the common man, accusing the government of working for the ‘moneybags’ at the cost of the common man.
Addressing the media, AAP Convenor Elvis Gomes said that what happened on Sunday across all of Tiswadi was only evidence to that effect.
“We challenge this government to appoint a senior technical expert to investigate why people were deprived of power for so long and thereafter launch a criminal investigation into who got what to keep people in the dark,” Gomes said.
He contrasted this with the AAP government’s reforms in Delhi that had kept power tariffs low and given a 50% relief in the power bills to the people, besides also offering compensation for power cuts.
He added that Goa was facing governance of the worst kind with opposition MLAs taking cover from facing action for their criminal acts which was allowing the government to get away with their failures.
Meanwhile AAP condemned the assault on activists Arthuro D’Souza and Rama Kankonkar and demanded action from the police.
AAP General Secretary Pradeep Padgaonkar said that police should not listen to anyone and proceed to investigate and arrest those named in the complaint.
“Governments will come and go. DG should use the incident as an opportunity to show that his force acts with impartiality “ said Padgaonkar adding that the activists were targeted for fighting all kinds of evil in the state.
