Putting a brave face, BJP karyakartas from Tivim on Sunday said that they will abide by the party decision of merging the Congress MLAs into the BJP which was in sync with the national policy to make Bharat-mukt Congress.

They also said that the BJP leadership had given no commitment of tickets to the Congress imports during the elections.

Although the karyakartas toed the party line the anger against the party decision to give entry to Tivim MLA, Nilkant Halarnkar, was palpable.

“BJP has not said it will give tickets to the Congress MLAs who have joined the party now. As per our national policy to make Bharat-mukt Congress we support and welcome the decision of merging the 10 MLAs into BJP,” said Anand Temkar, Sirsaim Sarpanch and a close aide of former Tivim MLA, Kiran Kandolkar.

More than 50 karyakartas including zilla members, sarpancahs, panch members and Tivim mandal members had gathered at the Canca residence of former BJP MLA Kiran Kandolkar late Sunday evening.

Continuing, Temkar said in 2017 assembly election all the karyakartas worked as one unit for the former Tivim MLA and will always support Kandolkar even in future.

“We assembled here to show our solidarity to Kiran Kandolkar. People may come and go but we will always work together for the party. We will always be with BJP,” Temkar said.

Tivim BJP Mandal member, Rajan Kamat said the government decision to merge the 10 Congress MLAs into BJP was nothing to do with the party.

“The government has decided to merge the 10 MLAs to gain stability so that there is smooth functioning of the administration. The party will take appropriate decision whenever elections arise,” Kamat said.

According to State executive member of BJP, Raju Reddy, the party was aware of the ground reality and will take right decision during the election. “At the moment we are with the party and respect the decision taken by the party. But our support will always be with Kiran bhai,” Reddy said.

ZP members, Govind Kubal and Diksha Kandolkar and sarpanchas, Sapna Mapari (Assonora), Anand Temkar (Sirsaim), Nita Naik (Pirna), Madhura Mandrekar (Nadora) and other panch and mandal members were present.

I am confident BJP will give ticket to me, asserts Kandolkar
