TMC is only party capable of defeating BJP: O'Brien

OLD GOA

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Derek O’Brien said that the party is the only party capable of defeating the BJP as only TMC is serious about defeating the saffron party.

O’Brien was speaking to reporters after the end of the workers' convention in Pilar on Sunday, which was attended by a large number of the party workers and leaders.

“Today, TMC is the only party which is serious about defeating the BJP as it has the capability to do so unlike the other opposition parties in the State,” O’Brien claimed.

“We have raised our voices on all issues concerning Goans, be it unemployment, price rise, etc and we will continue to do so,” O’Brien stated while urging the people to

“We will be the voice of Goa, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya and Bengal,” he added.

“At the next convention, which will happen in four months, many national leaders from the TMC will visit Goa and one among them will be a person of eminence from another political party who will join TMC,” the MP informed.

Further, O’Brien cautioned Goans against voting for the Congress as he said that voting for the Congress is equivalent to voting for the BJP.

Further, O’Brien acknowledged that the TMC made mistakes when the party made its maiden entry in the State.

Meanwhile, TMC Goa State in-charge Kirti Azad came down heavily on the BJP for the betrayal of Goans on the Mhadei issue.

TMC State convenors Mariano Rodrigues and Samil Volvoikar were also present.

Faleiro’s absence raises eyebrows

OLD GOA

As the TMC held its workers' convention at Pilar on Sunday, the absence of its Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro raised eyebrows, but there was no clarity on the issue from the party leaders.

When reporters questioned MP Derek O’Brien about the same, he only said, “Faleiro is the Rajya Sabha MP of the party and I have been invited by Faleiro for tea at his residence.”

To this one of the reporters questioned, “If Faleiro invited you for tea at his residence, why was he not invited to the convention?”

But O’Brien shot back, “How do you know that he was not invited?”
