TMC splurging Bengal tax money: Congress

TMC splurging Bengal tax money: Congress

MAPUSA
Slamming the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for hoisting flags and posters all over the State, the Congress on Friday said the TMC was misusing and wasting funds from the West Bengal exchequer on advertisements and hoardings.

The North Goa Congress District Committee President, Vijay Bhike said the TMC entered Goa six months before the election and expected people of Goa to blindly vote for them by spending lavishly on advertisement and hoardings at a time when a Corona-hit population was suffering from financial hardship.

“TMC is wastefully spending crores of rupees for advertisements and hoarding as well as on social media for their political campaigns. They have even illegally put up their flags on electrical poles. They should understand that party flags, posters and banners alone will not help them win elections. Such blatant misuse of public funds is bound to generate serious consequences,” Bhike said.

The North Goa Congress District Committee President was addressing a news conference along with other office-bearers in the district office in Mapusa. Bhike said due to the pandemic and inflation the common man was struggling to make ends meet while TMC was shamefully wasting money on advertisements across the State.

“We demand an enquiry into the money spent by TMC on advertising in Goa during a time when the Corona-hit population is suffering from financial hardship,” he said.

He also condemned the statement made by former chief minister Luizinho Faleiro stating that the Congress family is fragmented and he would work towards bringing the family together. “Where is your loyalty to the party you were part of for the last 40 years? You have betrayed the party that has given birth to your political career. First of all you are breaking the secular forces so do not misguide and fool the people of Goa. The Congress party is strong enough to protect Goa, its culture and identity with the support of Goans,” Bhike said.
