Apropos to “Jayesh quits as MLA, all set to join BJP” (The Goan Everyday, December 03, 2021). Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar has ditched Goa Forward Party and joined forces with the ruling party ahead of Goa Assembly Elections next year.
Poor Vijai Sardesai - the supremo of Goa Forward Party - is like the General steering his rebellious battalion before a do-or-die battle.
Just recently Goa Forward Party’s Aldona leader Kiran Kandolkar hitched his wagon to Mamata Didi’s Trinamool Congress right under Vijai Sardesai’s nose.
Now Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar is cocking a snook at Goa Forward Party even as Vijai Sardesai is busy playing comrades in arms with Rahul Gandhi. These ambitious leaders do not want to have any truck with Goa Congress that has lost its aura and is believed to fare poorly at the upcoming assembly elections.
Be that as it may, the Goan politics is hotting up even as unseasonal rains continue to create havoc. Leaders will align themselves with forces where lies an opportunity for growth. Why not make hay while the sun is shining?
