Addressing a gathering after being conferred the Felicio Cardoso Award for Journalism by Xavier Cota on behalf of Fr Freddy J da Costa Memorial Trust, Prabhudesai traced his initial entry into journalism to Romi Konkani, while referring to the Late Cardoso as a ‘multi-faceted personality'. "Felicio Cardoso's journalism was not merely restricted to just reporting. He was a journalist who imparted his thoughts through his writings," Prabhudesai remarked.
He described three ways in which journalism can affect the society. "We can push the society backward, can keep it as it is its place, and, more importantly, can take the society forward," Prabhudesai informed. "Today's journalism has turned from being politics-centric to politician-centric," he observed.
Speaking on the topic ‘Social unity of Goa as experienced by me', HR trainer and writer, Pravin Sabnis, explained this topic by citing the example of ‘Sangodd'. He claimed any misunderstandings should be cleared through talks. "If not, then unity can come under threat," he added. Sabnis also stressed on the importance of togetherness despite maintaining the separate identity.
A book titled ‘Kristachi Zat Konn' containing four short stories penned by Felicio Cardoso was also released at the hands of the guest of honour Ciriaco Dias on this occasion. Dr Jayanti Naik elaborated on the contents of this book.
Those present for the function included Konkani Bhasha Mandal president Chetan Acharya and president of Felicio Cardoso Trust, Prof S M Borges.
