Pedestrians had a torrid time as wastewater from an adjoining building flowed onto the steps near the old Collectorate building in the heart of the town on Monday morning.
An overflowing chamber of a building is believed to be the source of the wastewater flowing onto the steps before the water entered the main pedestrian footpath abutting the city road.
Visitors wondered why the local authorities including the Margao Municipal Council have not intervened to stop the chamber from overflowing into the public space.
A citizen pointed out that the wastewater from the chamber has been overflowing for the last couple of days with no one intervening to abate the nuisance.
“It is surprising that not a single authority has come and inspected the site to find out whether the water flowing into the main pedestrian footpath is waste water or sewage water. This is not just a nuisance but poses a health hazard to the visitors to the old Collectorate building and the adjoining commercial complex,” remarked another visitor.
