A female tourist was nabbed in a dramatic manner in Karnataka on Monday after a four-year-old boy who was staying along with her was murdered in a hotel at Sinquerim-Candolim.
It is unclear if the murdered boy was her son or had been abducted by her, but alert action by the hotel staff helped Goa police trace the taxi taking the woman to Bengaluru and with the help of the Karnataka police, nab the woman in Chitradurga. The body of the boy was found in one bag in the taxi.
According to police, woman along with the boy had arrived in Goa on January 6 and they were staying in a hotel at Sinquerim-Candolim.
When the woman checked out of the hotel on Monday and hired a taxi to take her to Bengaluru, the boy was not with her. The hotel staff became suspicious about the boy’s absence and notified the police.
A Calangute police team went to the hotel and found blood stains in the room. Suspecting foul play, police managed to contact the taxi driver who was transporting the woman to Bengaluru.
The taxi had reached Chitradurga in Karnataka and when the police spoke to the woman and inquired about the boy, she was unable to provide a satisfactory reply. The Calangute police then immediately got in touch with the local police in Chitradurga.
A Chitradurga police team took the woman into custody and on checking her baggage, found the body of the boy in one of the bags.
Calangute Police Inspector Paresh Naik and a team left for Chitradurga to take custody of the woman and bring her back to Goa for further interrogation.
