The North Goa District Magistrate has notified the diversion of traffic for the forthcoming Novena and Feast of St Francis Xavier (Goencho Saib) in Old Goa, which will be held from November 24 to December 3.
PANAJI TO OLD GOA VIA RIBANDAR: Vehicles, including special buses, coming from Panaji to Old Goa via Ribandar will halt at the Bhakia property.
However, vehicles carrying disabled persons are allowed to come up right upto the church junction and park their vehicles in the GTDC parking lot and in the open space opposite Sulabh Souchalaya near the Old Goa panchayat.
The return journey for all these vehicles will be the same route via Ribandar.
PANAJI TO OLD GOA VIA KADAMBA BYPASS: Panaji to Ponda route buses will be diverted at KTC circle to proceed via Kadamba bypass road.
The two-wheelers and four-wheelers shall take left turn at the Kamat Gas Station junction to proceed towards Santa Monica Convent and at St Augustine Tower junction shall take further left turn towards the Habitat junction, where they shall take right turn to reach Dempo Engineering, where they shall turn left to enter the Bhakia property for parking.
The road leading to Santan from Kadamba bypass road shall be one-way from Kadamba bypass to Santan. Also, there will be no entry for medium and heavy vehicles on this road, from both the sides.
All heavy and medium vehicles shall be diverted via Kadamba bypass road. On Saturday, Sunday and the Feast Day, heavy and medium goods vehicles shall be diverted at Karaswada junction and at Banastarim junction to proceed via Amona bridge.
SOUTH GOA TRAFFIC: The road from Pilar to Old Goa shall be ONE WAY for the traffic. No vehicle from Old Goa will be allowed to return via Neura. All vehicles shall exit via Kadamba bypass road at Merces or light vehicles can exit via the Santan Church road.
Four-wheelers from South Goa will be allowed to reach upto Ella Farm gate and shall park in the Ella Farm field, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Service open space.
Two-wheelers will be allowed to park in the private property prior to Neura junction and in the parking lots behind the Basilica.
Buses coming from South Goa via Neura road and reaching Ella Farm main gate shall take left turn and reach bus stand at Kunkolkar school ground and shall exit through Kadamba bypass road for onwards journey.
PONDA SIDE VEHICLES: Two-wheelers and four-wheelers coming from Ponda, on reaching Pinto garage shall take left turn for parking at the ground behind the garage.
For return journey, they shall take the same route to go towards Ponda.
Normal Ponda to Panaji traffic, including route buses, shall take flyover at the Dargah junction and proceed via the Kadamba bypass.
The stretch of road from Old Goa police station to Church junction via house of ex-MLA Pandurang Madkaikar shall be ONE WAY.
DIVAR SIDE TRAFFIC: Vehicles coming from Divar to Old Goa shall proceed via Viceroy’s Arch and shall be parked in the courtyard of St Cajetan church. Vehicles wishing to proceed to Ponda or Panaji shall proceed through Arch of
Conception.
Vehicles from Ponda side wanting to proceed to Divar shall take right turn at Neura junction and proceed to Divar ferry via Old Goa main junction.
Vehicles coming from Gaundalim side to Divar shall take right turn near Ramesh Naik’s house to proceed to Divar jetty.
Vehicles coming from Panaji via Ribandar to go to Divar shall take left turn at Old Goa Church junction towards St Catherine Chapel and thereafter take left turn on the new bylane to go to Divar jetty.
The lane connecting Gaundalim road to Arch of Conception shall be NO ENTRY.
The road from Old Goa church junction towards Divar Ferry via St Catherine chapel shall be ONE WAY.
No heavy and medium vehicles will be allowed to cross Divar Ferry.
