Around 200 traffic police personnel will be deployed in South Goa along the beach belt and in major towns in the district on the eve of New Year on December 31.
Security has also been beefed up all along the Salcete coastal belt which is expected to play host to thousands of domestic tourists on the eve of New Year. Security personnel will be also be deployed at all the Churches along the coastal belt, which will usher in the New Year with midnight Masses.

odh Shirwaikar told The Goan that the traffic police will be deployed at Palolem, Colva, Benaulim, Bogmalo, besides Ponda, Vasco and Margao to regulate traffic during the next two days.
He said that traffic police would also be deployed at churches in Margao, Vasco and Ponda to regulate traffic during the midnight Masses at the Parishes. He said that hundreds of outstation vehicles have brought in tourists to the state, adding that these vehicles are expected to head to the beach belt to usher in the New Year on December 31. "At Colva, vehicular parking will be allowed on the football ground, besides the beach square near the tourism residency," he said.
The Salcete beach belt extending from Benaulim to Colva, besides Bogmalo are the favourite destinations for New Year celebrations for the domestic visitors and foreign tourists. In fact, bumper to bumper traffic has been the order of the day on the Margao-Colva road on New Year eve and on the New Year day every year.
Meanwhile, Colva police station in-charge, PI Filomena Costa told The Goan that a police sub-inspector will head police teams at each of the beaches, right from Majorda to Mobor-Cavelossim, as a precautionary measure.
He said that policemen in plainclothes will be deployed in each of the churches situated along the entire beach belt, right from Cavelossim-Mobor, Varca, Benaulim, Colva, Betalbatim and Majorda, as a precautionary measure.
