Tragedy struck a family from Gujarat when a 10-year-old girl died in a road accident in the city here on Wednesday noon after she came under the wheels of a mini-bus.
The girl came under the wheels when she had tried to rescue a three-year old child from coming under the bus. Both the three-year old child and the 10-year old girl came under the bus, but the child escaped without any injuries.
The girl who sustained injuries was rushed to the South Goa district hospital, but later succumbed to her injuries.
The mini-bus was heading to the KTC bus stand, Margao when the accident occurred on Wednesday noon. A case has been registered against the bus driver for driving the vehicle in a rash and negligent manner resulting in the death of the young girl.
Police said the family from Surat-Gujarat had come down to Goa in search of employment. It is learnt that the family comes down to Goa once a year and takes up jobs of painting and other odd jobs.
