The Konkan railway corporation has on Thursday either cancelled or rescheduled a number of trains following rise in water level of Vashishti river between Chiplun & Kamthe station in Ratnagiri region because of heavy rains.
While refuting reports that the KR has cancelled the trains in view of the situation at the Old Goa tunnel, Konkan railway senior officer, Baban Ghatge said the measure has been taken purely in view of the rise in water above the danger level and taking into account the safety of passengers.
“Our decision to cancel or reschedule the trains has no connection with the Old Goa tunnel”, he asserted.
In view of the situation between Chiplun and Ratnagiri, he said a number of trains were cancelled, diverted or re-scheduled.
The trains cancelled were train No. 01152 Madgaon - Mumbai CSMT ‘Janshatabdi’ Special dated 22/07/2021, Train No.02119 CSMT- KRMI Tejas Spl of 22/07/2021 cancelled at Roha. Train No. 02120 KRMI - CSMT Tejas Spl of 22/07/2021 was also fully cancelled.
Trains diverted including the train No. 02618 NZM - ERS Special of 21/07/2021 is diverted via Manmad, Pune, Miraj, Londha, Madgaon and further on proper route, Train No. 06338 Ernakulam - Okha Bi-Weekly Special dated 21/07/2021 is diverted via Madgaon Jn., Londa Jn., Miraj Jn., Kurduwadi Jn., Daund Jn., Manmad Jn., Jalgaon, Udhna Jn. and further on proper route.
