Ex-Goa Forward vice president Trajano D’Mello on Tuesday once again took to targeting the party he once was a part of saying that the “G6” group of Ministers (including Goa Forward Party and Independent Ministers) needed to withdraw support to the government at the cabinet meeting scheduled to be held at the CM’s private residence at Dona Paula today.
Addressing media persons in the city, D’Mello gave a call to Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude to withdraw support to the government.
D’Mello also referred to Gaude’s statement that the MGP was blackmailing the government by giving them an ultimatum of one month to appoint a new Chief Minister.
“Why is Gaude pointing to the MGP?” asked D’Mello.
“What is the G6 Group of Ministers doing still supporting the government? The government is a collective responsibility,” he said.
D’Mello also reminded that the G6 had asked for a “permanent solution” to the political impasse in the state long before the MGP demanded a new CM.
“Is this a permanent solution?” asked D’Mello, pointing out that the G6 didn’t mind being party to the blackmail provided they got their pound of flesh.
“You are also a partner in blackmailing the current CM who is physically, we know, not in a position to run the state,” he said.
Meanwhile, D’Mello pointed to the collapse in administration saying that the common man was not allowed to meet the CM.
“Nobody can say that there is stability in the government. The Ministers can’t meet the CM, no one has seen the CM. This has been going on for a while now,” he said.
D’Mello also said that the CM should take note of the situation, dissolve the assembly, and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
D’Mello is not the first to give a call to the alliance partners to withdraw support from the government.
The Congress, too, gave a similar call last week asking the alliance partners to make a “conscientious decision” to step down.
