BELAGAVI
Goans travelling to Belagavi faced severe hardships on Thursday as vehicles entering Karnataka from Chorla and Anmod ghats were either sent back or stranded at both checkpoints.
Implementing the Karnataka government’s orders regarding mandatory 72-hour RT-PCR negative reports for commuters entering Goa from Karnataka, the Belagavi and Karwar police intensified checks at Anmod and Chorla borders.
“Most commuters did not carry the RT-PCR negative report, but a majority of them had a fully vaccinated certification. Those carrying the vaccination certificate were allowed to enter Karnataka after issuing a warning,” Nikhil Asukar, a local told The Goan.
However, Khanapur police were stricter in implementing the orders as all those not carrying the RT-PCR negative reports were sent back.
Khanapur CPI Shinge said they had to send back several Goan vehicles which did not comply with the government orders.
“We appeal to Goans to carry the RT-PCR negative report of not less than 72-hours and also a fully vaccinated certificate while entering Karnataka,” Belagavi Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbargi told The Goan.
Accordingly, authorities in Karnataka have urged Goans to carry the RT-PCR negative report while entering Karnataka.
