A huge tree came crashing on a house at Orulem late Saturday night. Fortunately there were no injures or loss of life but property around Rs1 lakh was destroyed in the incident .
House owner Sameer Borkar speaking to media said the tree fell at night after which he called ward Councillor Rochana Borker for help.
"Her husband Girish Borker immediately rushed to the site and then coordinated with the electricity department and fire department who cleared the tree after around 3 hours. Damage to the house estimated at Rs one lakh. The tree was huge and a crane had to be called to remove the tree from the house . While the Councillor has totally supported us, we hope the Government will help us as well for the losses we have faced," said Borkar.
Meanwhile Fire officer Vivekanand Bhatkar speaking to media said that the fire department received a call at around 9.30 pm
"We rushed immediately to the site. Since the tree was huge , we had to cut in and remove the bigger portion of tree using a crane. The owner has claimed losses of Rs 1 lakh," said Bhatkar.
