Two houses were damaged after trees fell in separate incidents in Valpoi and Savarde, Sattari taluka.

In the first incident, a mango tree toppled onto the house of Nadeem Shah at Saiyadwada in Valpoi. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The tree, located close to Shah’s house, collapsed suddenly, causing significant damage to the roof and household items. Local residents initially tried to remove the tree, after which the Valpoi fire brigade was called. Fire personnel cleared the fallen tree safely.

In the second incident, a large tree fell on the house of Babuso Gaonkar at Karmali Budruk in Savarde-Sattari. Again, there were no casualties. The tree caused roof tiles to collapse inside the house, damaging several household items.

Fire brigade personnel arrived promptly to remove the tree, with help from local residents. Gaonkar said the tree fell unexpectedly, leading to considerable losses, and his family has requested government compensation.

Incidents of trees falling on houses have increased in Sattari taluka in recent days.

With the monsoon approaching, the risk is expected to rise.

Local residents have urged authorities to survey hazardous trees and take preventive measures to avoid further damage.
