Truck driver held in Loutolim hit-and-run case

The Maina Curtorim police have solved a hit-and-run accident case in which a rider and a pillion rider from Shiroda-Ponda were injured. 

The accident took place on October 23 at Loutolim, when an unidentified truck driver, driving in a rash and negligent manner, hit a Jupiter scooter. As a result, the scooter rider, Shidhi Gaonkar, and the pillion rider, Rashika Naik, both residents of Shiroda-Ponda, sustained injuries.

The truck driver fled from the spot without providing medical help to the injured or informing the police. During the investigation, the police identified the truck driver as Debajyoti Mukharjee. He was arrested and later released on bail.

The driver has been booked under Sections 281, 125(a), and 125(b) of the BNS, and Section 134(a)(b) read with 187 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
