Truck driver rescued after being trapped in mishap at Aldona

A 33-year-old truck driver from Karnataka was rescued after being trapped inside his vehicle following an accident at Panarim on Thursday evening.

The injured driver, identified as Jagdesh Madar, a resident of Bijapur, Karnataka, was extricated from the mangled truck by fire personnel after a swift rescue operation.

According to officials of fire and emergency services, Mapusa, the incident was reported around 4 pm, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade.

Upon reaching the site, rescue teams used hydraulic tools to cut through parts of the damaged vehicle, including the steering section, to safely free the trapped driver.

He was later shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Panchayat member Harish Mayekar said the accident occurred when the truck rammed into an electric pole.

He added that after being alerted by a local resident, he contacted the fire brigade, ambulance services, police and the electricity department.

A minor boy who was seated beside the driver escaped unhurt.

Truck owner Dilesh Gomes stated that the vehicle was returning after unloading mud when it reportedly suffered brake failure while descending a slope, causing it to crash into the electric pole.

He said the truck was extensively damaged in the accident.
