The Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr at Alto Porvorim will organise its 32nd Annual Antonio Pereira Konknni Puroskar Ceremony on January 29 at 5 pm in its courtyard.
A number of Puroskars (awards) will be given at the ceremony and senior Tiatr artiste Joe Rose will be the chief guest of the day.
The ‘Dr Jack Sequeira Konknni Puroskar 2021’ will be awarded to Anthony Miranda for having worked for the Konkani language and its culture in the Roman Script.
The ‘Valerio Carvalho Konknni Puroskar 2021’ will be awarded to Sonia Gomes for having worked for Konkani in the Roman script.
The ‘Maria Afonso Konknni Puroskar 2021’ will be awarded to Fr Doel Dias for a Priest/Nun/ Religious who has contributed to the growth of the Konknni Language and culture in the Roman Script.
The ‘Late Fr Casimiro De Mello Konknni Puroskar 2021’ will be awarded to Felix P Da Cruz for a Goan activist who has fought for the cause of Konknni language and the social issues of the State.
The ‘Martir Floriano Vaz Puroskar 2021’ will be awarded to Antonia Mascarenhas for the best selected book of the Year in Roman Konkani.
The ‘Antonio Pereira Konknni Puroskar 2022’ will be awarded to Fr Ave Maria Afonso for a person with more or less 15 years of service to the Konkani language, culture and traditions.
Along with these Puroskars, the TSKK will also give some scholarships to meritorious and deserving poor students.
The ‘Annual TSKK Research Bulletin “ SOD -24’, which is a special edition on the life and works of late Fr Vasco do Rego SJ will also be released at the function. The articles are edited by Dr Fr Pratap Naik SJ and typeset by Swara Pednekar, staff member of TSKK.
