The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) has sought an appointment with Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, and Tourism Minister, Manohar ‘Babu’ Ajgaonkar, to present a white paper to them. The white paper is on reasons for decline in the number of tourists in Goa in the previous season and also on suggestions and solution to this problem.
Actually, TTAG had a meeting back in March with all tourism stakeholders to come out with a white paper.
However, due to code of conduct, it could not meet the CM. Now that the code of conduct is lifted, TTAG is all geared up with meet both Dr Sawant and
Ajgaonkar.
Savio Messias, president, TTAG, said, “We have already asked for an appointment with CM Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Manohar ‘Babu’ Ajgaonkar,.
During the meeting, we would like to present a white paper we have prepared.
The white paper addresses issues like why the number of tourists declined in the previous season, which areas need to be worked upon and what is the solution.”
It is expected that the TTAG with meet CM and Tourism Minister in the next few days.
After its meeting, it will make the white paper public.
In the meanwhile, tourism stakeholders have maintained that the number of tourists was lesser than average even in April and May this year partly due to general slowdown and partly due to restrictions on account of code of conduct.
