Furious with Tuem Sarpanch Kishore Naik for initiating action against those extracting sea shells from the saline water at Tuem, he and his family members have started receiving death threats from the people involved in the activities.
It may be recalled that on Friday, Tuem Sarpanch Naik along with Pernem Police raided a sea shell extraction site at ‘Mhadlo' farm at Tuem and seized a truck loaded with sea shells.
Furious with the action, a businessman allegedly intercepted Naik's father and his cousin while they were on their way and threatened them with dire consequences.
Later, Sarpanch Naik filed a complaint with Pernem Police. Many complaints have been filed against the businessman on several occasions, informed Pernem Police.
Naik told Pernem Police that the businessman's attitude is unacceptable. "He is the brother of a local politician. Police should take action against the businessman and also investigate into the sea shells extraction activity," Naik added.
