Two Arpora youth held for alleged assault on Parra petrol pump staff

Mapusa police have arrested two youths from Arpora, aged 22 and 24, in connection with an alleged assault on petrol pump employees at Parra following a dispute over UPI payment and parking.

According to police, an argument broke out at the fuel station over payment through UPI and subsequently turned violent. The two accused allegedly abused the pump staff and assaulted them with fists and kicks, with a woman employee also among those allegedly attacked.

The incident was captured on the petrol pump’s CCTV cameras, which helped police identify the suspects.

Police also traced the vehicle allegedly used by the duo through its registration details before taking them into custody.

Police have registered action under Section 151 and are conducting further investigation into the incident. They are also verifying the antecedents of the two accused to ascertain whether they have been involved in any previous criminal cases.

Further investigation is in progress.
