Two arrested in child abandoning case

The Margao police has finally achieved a breakthrough in the child abandoning case that was reported at Mandopa-Navelim.

The  Margao police arrested two persons, including a lady Judith Colaco,  aged 40 years and Caitan Colaco (45 years), both residents of Mandopa in  connection with the case.

Margao PI Kapil Nayak informed that the  duo have been arrested in the case which was registered under section  317 of the IPC after a new born female child was found abandoned near  the Mandopa football grounds on December 2, 2018.

Replying to a question, PI Kapil said both the arrested persons will be subjected to medical examination, including a DNA test. To  another question, PI Kapil said the authorities had handed over the  child to the children’s home at Ponda after her discharge from the  Hospicio hospital.
